Bengaluru: A mobile planetarium and Chandrayaan 3 Pavilion prototype designed by an organisation, Taare Zameen Par, became one of the main attractions at the 26th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit that kicked off on Wednesday in the city.

Organized by the Karnataka government's Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology, in collaboration with the union government's Software Technology Parks of India, the three-day event, themed 'Breaking Boundaries,' was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Palace Grounds.

As expected, the Tech Summit on its first day became a dynamic convergence point for tech leaders, startups, investors, and research labs from over 30 countries who participated in this three-day global event.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, along with Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology Minister NS Boseraju and IT, BT, and Rural Development Minister Priyanka Kharge, inaugurated the pavilion and expressed delight at its innovative approach.

Major attractions: With a 1:1 scale model of Chandrayaan 3 Lander and an immersive AR/VR experience, the visitors delved into the intricacies of lunar missions and space science at the exhibition.

Another model designed based on the Green BTS initiative, integrating ecoconscious practices, takes a significant step towards sustainability, setting the event apart as the first of its kind in India.

The semi-permanent geodesic dome, aligned with the "Make in Karnataka" policy, has significantly reduced the cost of the planetarium by 50%.

The attendees can also manipulate and explore the celestial models using a joystick and keyboard, offering an immersive travel experience through leading a lunar mission, navigating through space, or docking at the International Space Station.

With over 75 sessions, more than 400 speakers, 350 startups, 600 exhibitors, and 20,000 business attendees, the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2023 provides a platform for exploration, innovation, and collaboration.

Institutions such as Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) along with industry giants such as Infosys, Bosch, Microsoft Startup, and Biocon, contributed to the vibrancy of the tech marketplace.
