'It’s scientific': Siddu rebuffs caste census criticism

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday asserted that the caste census was scientific and opposition to it was not factual since the report was still confidential.

He made the comments at the golden jubilee celebrations of the All Karnataka Ganiga Association.

The CM was indirectly referring to opposition to the H Kantharaju Commission report by some Lingayat and Vokkaliga groups, the most politically dominant communities in the state.

“The socio-economic and educational caste census has been prepared scientifically. However, we have not accepted it yet. The commission’s term has been extended by two months with an intention to accept the report. Once the report is received, a decision will be taken,” Siddaramaiah said.
