4,000 two-wheelers with training wheels pledged for disabled persons
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that steps were underway to distribute 4,000 motorised two-wheelers with training wheels for persons with disabilities in the year to come.
He made the comments during an official state programme commemorating the International Day for Persons with Disabilities at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium.
It was also attended by Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar since it was organised by her department.
“According to the 2011 census, there are 13,24,205 disabled persons in the state. They are not a burden to society. They too have the rights, like others, to seek opportunities and employment. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that they get the same opportunities as everyone else,” Siddaramaiah said.
