
Labourers from Bihar trapped under maize sacks as storage units collapse in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: Over 10 labourers from Bihar may be trapped under maize sacks in a Vijayapura warehouse. The incident unfolded at Rajguru Industries, an Aliabad industrial estate food processing unit, where 50 workers were active.
Witnessed by onlookers, four storage units collapsed, each holding 120 tonnes of maize, trapping around 10 workers. Police confirmed three successful rescues, swiftly transporting them to the government hospital as of Monday night at 23:00 hours.
A rescue operation, led by Fire and Emergency Services personnel, deployed two cranes and four earth movers as soon as the incident was reported.
Around 22:15 hours police indicated that 3-4 workers may still be beneath the bags. SP Rishikesh Sonawane and officials rush to oversee.
