Bengaluru: In a freak accident, a speeding car crashed into a parked BMTC bus before bursting into flames on Nayandahalli Ring Road on Monday morning.

However, due to the timely action of the BMTC staff, no major casualties were reported in the incident.

The incident took place at around 9 am when the BMTC bus driver Gourisha stopped the bus on the Ring Road near Nayandahalli to pick up and drop off passengers, while a speeding car allegedly crashed into the backside of the bus and went up in flames.

Noticing the fire, the shocked passengers of the bus and the occupants of the car, jumped out of their vehicles to escape injuries.

According to a BMTC spokesperson, there were around 30 passengers inside the bus. Three occupants of the car sustained minor injuries while they jumped out of the burning car.

The car got stuck to the rear end of the bus and the driver tried his best to detach it by moving the bus to a safe area. The bus conductor, Giridhar, meanwhile took an extinguisher from the bus and attempted to douse the fire in the car.

Several passengers brought water and helped Giridhar. The car, meanwhile, was completely gutted. A fire tender rushed to the spot and put out the fire before clearing the area. A case was registered and an investigation is on.
