The deceased was identified by the jurisdictional police as Arun, 24, a local resident of the area.
The incident took place on Tuesday night around 10:20 pm when Arun was having a discussion with his friends a few meters away from his house.
According to Arun's friends, an armed gang of seven to eight members approached them and started brutally attacking Arun with machetes. When a few of Arun's friends attempt to resist, the gang fled from the scene leaving a fatally injured Arun.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to injuries while he was being transported to a nearby hospital, Arun's friends said. The police inspected the spot and have taken up a murder case against the accused.
However the police revealed that earlier an attempt-to-murder case was registered at the Byatarayanapura Police Station against Arun. The police suspect the cause of murder to be an old feud between two gangs.
