Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman while travelling in a metro in the city, the police said on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday around 9:40 am when the victim, a software professional, was traveling from Rajajinagar to Majestic on Namma Metro.
Allegedly taking advantage of the crowded conditions, the accused, identified as Lokesh Achar, inappropriately touched the woman.
Realising the deliberate actions of the accused, the woman raised an alarm following which the accused attempted to escape, but was caught by the alert security staff and a few commuters at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station.
The victim and co-passengers urged the BMRCL officials to detain him after which the accused was handed over to the Upparpet police. Police investigations revealed that the accused was a habitual offender.
