Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a seventh standard student had to get six stitches on his hand after he was allegedly beaten up with an iron by a private school teacher in the city.
According to sources, the student, Mohammed Fardeen, had failed to complete his homework which enraged a female teacher of the private school in Hulimavu, Bengaluru.
As a punishment, the teacher allegedly picked up an iron rod and beat him on the hand. Shocked at the injury and severe bleeding, the parents of the student rushed him to a nearby hospital after which the boy got six stitches on his hand.
Sources added that the incident had taken place on December 5 and the school management had attempted to hush up the matter.
The matter was brought to the notice of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Shashikala, on Friday, following which she said that she has received the complaint of assault by a teacher on a student of the Lords School in Bengaluru.
The officers of the school education department have been sent to inquire about the matter and also issue a notice to the school.
"We will get a complete report and inquire about the teacher after issuing a notice to her," she stated.
Sources said that as media started questioning the school management on the issue, the management had agreed to bear the medical expenses of the student and convinced the parents not to lodge a police complaint against the school and the teacher. More details are awaited.
