
Largest drug seizure in the history of Bengaluru Police

Bengaluru: Amid New Year celebrations, the anti narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) busted yet another major drug haul in the city by seizing MDMA and Cocaine worth Rs 21 crore.
A Nigerian national, identified as Leonard Okwudili, 44, has been arrested in connection with the seizure.
The police said that the accused was staying in Ramamurthy Nagar of Bengaluru. It was learnt that the drugs were meant to be distributed at rave parties ahead of the New Year celebrations in the city.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda on Tuesday said that the CCB officials have seized 16 kg MDMA in the form of crystals and powder which costs up to Rs 16 crore along with 500 grams of cocaine worth Rs 5 crore.
"This is the largestever drug haul seized in the history of Bengaluru Police," the city police chief said.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Foreigners Act has been registered against the accused at Ramamurthynagar Police Station.
The police have also detained the landlord for failing to inform the jurisdictional police about his tenant. Legal action will be initiated against him, said the police.
