Shivakumar hits back at Opposition

Belagavi, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar hit back against the BJP and JD(S) in the backdrop of the Opposition parties opposing the withdrawal of permission for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against him.

Shivakumar is currently facing a probe for having disproportionate assets. He made the comments to mediapersons at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Friday on the concluding day of the winter session.

“Do the BJP and JD(S) really have concerns about people's issues? If they don't have any interest in discussing people's issues, there is not much that can be done. Let them focus on politics and we will focus on the development of the state,” Shivakumar said.

Asked about participation of BJP MLAs in the dinner organised by the Congress, he said: “Leaders from other parties do attend dinners, weddings and other important occasions cutting across party lines. What is wrong with that? It is natural that people from different parties talk to each other.
