Farmer dies in elephant attack

Ramanagara, NT Bureau: An elephant trampled a farmer to death in the early hours of Sunday in a village called Aralikere Doddi of Harohalli taluk in Ramanagara district.

The farmer Thimmappa, aged 60 was engaged in sericulture. Apparently, he stepped out of his home around 5 am because of commotion being caused by stray dogs and consequently fell prey to a rampaging elephant.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar who hails from Kanakapura taluk in Ramanagara district took note of the accident and announced appropriate compensation for the family of the deceased.

He added that Thimmappa’s daughter would be given a government job since the breadwinner of the family was now dead.
