Fatal jeep collision on Kalaburagi-Afzalpur HW claims 4 lives

Kalaburagi, NT Bureau: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night when a jeep, carrying four individuals including a child, collided head-on with a truck on Kalaburagi-Afzalpur Highway.

The accident resulted in the death of four individuals—jeep driver Santosh (40), Shankar (55), Siddamma (50), and Huchappa (5)—while 30-year-old Pooja sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kalaburagi.

The district administration reported that the collision occurred around 11:30 pm when the jeep with registration number KA32 M 3472 was travelling from Afzalpur to Mallabad, while the truck was coming from Kalaburagi.

Officials attribute the accident to the truck driver's alleged speeding and careless driving. All the victims, who were daily-wage workers, hailed from Madiyal village in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district.

The authorities have informed the bereaved family members that the mortal remains will be handed over to them after the completion of post-mortem procedures.
