Woman techie accused of negligence after a hair dryer causes accidental fi re

Bengaluru: In a bizarre turn of events, a woman techie was allegedly booked for causing an accidental fire with her hair dryer in the PG she was renting in the city.

The techie was identified as Shambhavi, a software professional employed at a private firm in Bengaluru.

According to sources, she hails from North India and was staying at a PG in Electronic City here. The incident took place on Wednesday night after Shambhavi returned from work.

She was allegedly drying her hair using a dryer when it caught fire, following which she threw the device on the bed. As a result, a bed in the room gutted in the fire.

Prima facie it appeared that a short circuit resulted in the fire, jurisdictional police said.

An investigation is underway after the PG owner filed a complaint against the woman accusing her of negligence. More details are awaited.
