Bengaluru: Cracking yet another murder case, the city police arrested a person for allegedly killing his friend after he refused to join him for a drink.
The accused arrested was identified as Babu Lal Singh, another labourer and a native of Jharkhand.
News Trail had reported about an unidentified body of a man found by the residents at an isolated spot in Singanahalli in Bengaluru on Tuesday morning.
Following an inspection, the Bagalur Police recorded statements from the locals who identified him as Jitendra, 26, hailing from Uttar Pradesh. It was revealed that he was a labourer working at a construction site in the area.
The police said that they did not find any fatal injuries on Jitendra's body. However they suspected that he might have died due to strangulation. A team was formed to identify and nab the accused in the case.
The probe led to the arrest of Babu Lal Singh, a friend of the deceased labourer. Sources from the police said that on the night of December 18, the duo had been to a local bar where Singh started drinking excessively while Jitendra resisted after a few glasses.
As Singh began forcing him to drink more, an irritated Jitendra left the bar. When Singh came out of the bar, he found Jitendra at the vacant site following which an argument broke out between the duo.
The argument turned violent as Singh took a scarf, which he used to cover his face during his work, and strangled Jitendra in rage. The accused fled the spot as soon as he found the victim was not breathing, sources from the police said.
Following arrest, the accused was presented before the court on Saturday and has been taken into custody for further investigations.
