Youth assaults traffic cop, gets arrested

Bengaluru: An unruly youth was arrested by the Subramanya Nagar Police for allegedly abusing and assaulting an on-duty traffic policeman here.

The incident had taken place on Saturday night near Uttarahalli following which a complaint was filed by the police constable attached to Kumaraswamy Layout Traffic Police Station.

The accused was tracked and identified by the police as Raju. The constable was manning the traffic at the junction when he promptly asked Raju to give way to other vehicles.

Enraged at this, the accused allegedly abused the constable for which the constable slapped him.

According to sources, both entered into a fight during which Raju hit the constable and threw his cap on the ground before fleeing on his scooter.

A case has been registered against the accused.
