Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) spokesperson M Lakshmana on Monday demanded the state government take action against the Mandya district administration and the police for giving permission to hold Sankeerthana yatra conducted by RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat behind the Jamia Masjid during Hanuma Jayanthi celebrations in Srirangapatna town on Sunday.

Addressing press persons, he alleged that some miscreants attempted to enter Jamia Masjid and even disturbed peace during the Hanuma jayanthi celebrations held near Anjaneyaswamy temple at Nimishamba temple.

How could the police give permission to hold the yatra behind the masjid without anticipating a threat to peace, he wondered.

He also wondered why the Mandya police did not arrest Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat holding him responsible for the incident.

The Congress leader also attacked Union minister Prahlad Joshi for criticizing CM Siddaramaiah when he himself had failed to prevail upon the union government to resolve several state-centric issues including the Mahadayi and Krishna interstate water disputes and in bringing drought relief funds from the centre.

District Congress President B J Vijayakumar, city Congress chief R Murthy, Congress leaders B M Ramu, M Shivanna and others were present.
