Nirani gives Yatnal thumbs down over BSY remarks

Bagalkote: Former minister and BJP leader Murugesh Nirani on Monday hit back against party colleague and Vijayapura MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal for the latter’s comments on the latest appointments to the state BJP.

Yatnal had alleged that loyalists of BS Yediyurappa had been retained while contrarian voices had been marginalized.

Yediyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra is the BJP president as well. Nirani, who has been appointed BJP state vice president and Yatnal are old rivals and belong to the same Panchamasali Lingayat community.

The other anti-Yediyurappa dissident who has been kept out is V. Somanna.

The list of appointments included 10 BJP state vice presidents, 10 state secretaries, four general secretaries and chiefs of various morchas (women, farmers, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes etc).

“I doubt even he understands what he has been saying for the past four or five years. I won’t say anything about him,” Nirani told mediapersons.

“It won’t bring a good name to Vijayapura to talk about Yediyurappa and Vijayendra like this. It is not wise to reply to him (Yatnal). Everyone now realizes that even people around him say we feel ashamed of the things he says,” he added.
