Bengaluru: The State government revealed that more than 19,000 beneficiaries had registered for the Yuva Nidhi scheme in under a week.
Registrations for the scheme had begun on the Seva Sindhu portal on December 26 and until 6 pm of Monday, 19,392 applications had been received for the scheme.
Under the Yuva Nidhi Yojane, unemployed graduates would get a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 while jobless diploma holders would be credited Rs 1,500 every month.
However, the scheme is available to only those who belong to the 2022-23 academic year, have gone without a job for six months and aren’t pursuing another course.
Youth employment on a massive scale is seen as a major issue in the lead up to the Lok Sabha elections later this year.
This scheme is the fifth “guarantee” welfare scheme that the Congress State government has implemented. The other four are the Shakti Yojane, Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Gruha Jyothi and Anna Bhagya.
