
10 aspirants for Belagavi LS seat, 5 for Chikkodi: Jarkiholi

Belagavi: Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi said that there were at least 16 aspirants for the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Belagavi district.
He told mediapersons in Belagavi on Monday that the Belagavi Lok Sabha seat had elicited 1o applications and that there were six contenders for the Chikkodi constituency.
“For Belagavi, more than 10 people have come forward. Chikkodi on the other hand has drawn interest from five or six aspirants. I am yet to look into other details,” Satish said.
In the past, Jarkiholi had revealed that Congress was considering fielding a Lingayat and a Kuruba for the two Lok Sabha constituencies in the district since the two communities were quite populous in the district.
The KPCC had appointed observers to all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies to suggest names for candidature. All observers are ministers in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet.
Minister for Kannada and Backward Classes Shivaraj Tangadi is the observer for Belagavi seat.
