BJP condemned for politicizing Srikanth Poojary issue

Mysuru, NT Bureau: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson H A Venkatesh on Friday condemned the state BJP leader for politicizing the issue of arrest of Hindu activist Srikanth Poojary from Hubballi for allegedly being involved in riots that happened during the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi protests in 1992.

Speaking to reporters after releasing a calendar brought by G Parameshwara Fans association at Patharakarthara Bhavan in the city, he criticized the BJP leaders for holding an “arrest me campaign” without respecting the law of the land.

He said that police have arrested Srikanth Poojary in a regular process of opening old cases which were 31 years old as per the directions of Supreme Court.

Even Union government has also come out with a law regarding reviewing old cases.

He was not targeted alone, and he was arrested because he committed a crime, he said. He also slammed exminister G T Devegowda.
