Protest rally held to remove Suttur Mutt's late pontiff 's statue in Mysuru

Mysuru: Members of various communities including Ursu Mandali Sangha under the banner of Kanuna Bahira Prathime Teravu Horata Samithi took out protest rally in the city on Saturday, urging the district administration to remove the late Suttur Mutt pontiff Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji was it was installed in the controversial gun house circle in by flouting Supreme Court guidelines.

They took out a rally from the main entrance gate of Dasara Exhibition Grounds till the Office of New Deputy Commissioner in Siddarthanagar.

They held a protest by holding placards demanding the district administration to stop the ongoing installation works at Gun House Circle as a case related to the issue over the installation of statues is still unresolved in the court.

The protesters said that the Supreme Court directed all state governments not to give permission for installation in public places on January 18, 2013.
