Bengaluru: As the first festival of the year approaches, Kannada cinema enthusiasts are in for a special treat with the release of "Rangasamudra," a film starring Rangayana Raghu in the lead role, directed by Rajkumar Aski.
The trailer of this folk-themed movie was unveiled earlier this week by Raghavendra Rajkumar, who also plays a pivotal role in the film.
Scheduled for release on January 12th, "Rangasamudra" marks a departure for Rangayana Raghu, known for his supporting roles, as he takes on the lead character.
The film extensively captures the essence of north Karnataka and parts of Maharashtra. Raghu fondly reminisces about the warmth and hospitality extended by the Kannadigas in Jatta (Maharashtra) during the filming, expressing their joy in hosting a Kannada production.
He also shared that Puneeth Rajkumar had initially agreed to make a guest appearance in the film, but his untimely demise led to a change in plans.
Notably, Raghavendra Rajkumar has stepped in to play the special role in the film. Raghavendra Rajkumar, who released the trailer, commended the director and Rangayana Raghu, stating, "Rangayana Raghu’s performance in the lead role is truly remarkable.
It's an honor for me to be part of such a wonderful film. Working with him has been a privilege. His portrayal in the movie is extraordinary, and I wish the film a grand success."
Director Rajkumar Aski reflected on the initial commitment from Puneeth Rajkumar to feature in a guest role, expressing regret over the turn of events.
However, he emphasized that Raghavendra Rajkumar has admirably taken on the role.
With no other Kannada films slated for release on January 12th, the team is thrilled to present "Rangasamudra" as a special Sankranti treat for the audience.
Adding to the film's appeal is its captivating music. MM Keeravani, the Oscar Award winner for his Telugu film song "Naatu Naatu" last year, has lent his voice to a song in the movie.
The soundtrack features five songs with lyrics penned by Vaageesh Channagiri and music composed by Desi Mohan.
The talented lineup of singers includes Kailash Kher, Vijay Prasad, MM Keeravaani, Sanchith Hegde, and Desi Mohan.
