IIIT-Bangalore hosts global data science conference, showcases innovation and expertise

Bengaluru: The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) played host to the prestigious International Conference on Data Science and Management of Data (CODS-COMAD) from January 4 to 7.

Organised by the ACM India Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (IKDD), CODS-COMAD was a convergence of leading minds in the realm of Data Science.

Expressing his excitement for the event, Prof. Dinesh Babu Jayagopi, the hosting organiser, highlighted IIIT-Bangalore's research group in Data Science, placing it among the esteemed institutions that had successfully hosted the CODS-COMAD conference.

Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT Bangalore, welcomed national and international delegates, emphasizing the conference's role in deliberating on the then-current progress and future directions in Data Science and Management of Data.

The conference boasted a lineup of keynote speakers, including luminaries such as Professors Thomas Dietterich, David Page, Sunita Sarawagi, Ragini Verma, Susam Davidson, and Partha Talukdar.

Their talks were expected to provide valuable insights into the then-latest advancements and trends in the Data Science domain.

CODS-COMAD's program had highlighted tutorials and workshops on cutting-edge topics, with a particular focus on Large Language Models (LLMs).

These sessions aimed to equip participants with hands-on experience and profound insights into the then-emerging technologies, ensuring their continual engagement with the forefront of innovation.

In a bid to foster widespread participation, CODSCOMAD offered nearly 100 travel grants to students and faculty, facilitating their attendance and active involvement in that premier event.
