Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested a gang of six men who were allegedly indulged in illegal gambling activities at a flat in an apartment complex in Jaga Jeevan Ram Nagar Police Station limits.

Following a tip-off, the CCB sleuths raided Park West apartment near Sirsi Circle on Sunday and arrested the accused seizing Rs 1,48,300 in cash from them.

An investigation found that the gang was running Andar-Bahar, an even-numbered-card game, for which they used to accept bets online.

Following interrogation, the police recovered Rs 86,87,800 unaccounted cash which the gang had stored in a bag at the apartment.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the building owner, who is also one of the accused in the case, was not present during the raid.

"Three months ago, the owner had registered a gold robbery case at Cottonpet Police Station. However, following an investigation it was found that he himself had staged the robbery to claim an insurance amount of Rs 2 crore," the official said.
