Union Min walks out after MLAs oppose candidacy
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Union minister of state for chemicals and fertilizers and BJP MP from Bidar Bhagwant Khuba walked out of a party meeting after two MLAs opposed giving him a ticket from the seat again.
The meeting was called to discuss the candidacy for 13 Lok Sabha constituents.
Another sitting parliamentarian whose candidacy was opposed was BJP MP from Koppal Karadi Sanganna.
The two MLAs from Bidar district namely former minister Prabhu Chavan (Aurad) and Sharanu Salagar (Basavakalyan) alleged that Khuba had worked against party interests and tried to defeat them both but failed.
Both Chavan and Salagar raised their voices and warned that if Khuba was fielded again, they wouldn’t campaign for him.
Khuba also loudly proclaimed that it was the BJP high command that would decide on candidates.
The minister then asked the MLAs who their choice for the Bidar would be, suggesting that he was the best man for the job.
