Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar ordered the suspension of officers who allegedly demanded a bribe to release a pension amount.

He was responding to a complaint by a widow who claimed that she had applied for an allowance but was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 4,000 instead.

Shivakumar attended the complainant at the Janaspandana or ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ programme, which made its way to Yelachenahalli on Thursday.

Thousands showed up to the grievance redressal programme held at Jaraganahalli school grounds, which falls under the Bommanahalli Assembly constituency.
