Delhi: Karnataka BJP leader and former minister V Somanna on Saturday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and saffron party national president JP Nadda and demanded a Rajya Sabha seat.

Somanna along with many other state BJP leaders had been sulking due to their supposed marginalization within the party.

They have been upset over continued control of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa over the Karnataka BJP unit, citing elevation of Yediyurappa’s on BY Vijayendra.

Somanna was also not happy with being forced by Shah to contest Assembly polls from Chamarajanagara and Varuna, both seats where he lost However, he struck a much more conciliatory note on Saturday, telling mediapersons that the interaction with Shah had been positive.

“I never said I would contest (Lok Sabha polls). You know this. I requested a Rajya Sabha seat. I’ve left the decision to senior leaders,” Somanna said.
