K’taka Cong leaders in Manipur for start of Rahul’s march

Imphal / Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Karnataka Congress leaders like Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Home Minister G Parameshwara, Energy Minister KJ George, Urban Development and Town Planning Minister Byrathi Suresh and political secretary to the CM K Govindaraju participated in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s inaugural programme in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, on Sunday.

The march will be 6,700 kms long and has started from Khongjom, Manipur in the east to Mumbai, Maharashtra in the west of the country.

Ethnic violence in Manipur has taken the lives of more than 200 people and displaced over 70,000 people.

“It is a struggle of those crores of Indians who suffer the wrath of falsehood, violence, hatred and inequality,” Siddaramaiah said on the occasion.

“Rahul Gandhi is trying to strengthen the unity of the country. This is an effort that no other politician had done. It is an attempt to unify the country and to attain justice for the people of the nation. We are all witnesses to and participants in it,” Shivakumar said.
