Karnataka recorded 39 deaths, 152 injuries within 24 hours: ADGP

Bengaluru: In a shocking revelation, the state traffic department is said to have recorded 39 deaths and 152 injuries within 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday.
Four members of a family, including three children, were killed on the spot in a road accident early Thursday morning near the Sanikere village in Chitradurga district.
The cause of the accident was revealed to be drowsy driving. Sharing the news on Thursday, the Karnataka Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Training, Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar, took to his social media X account, urging the motorists to avoid driving or travelling with a driver without night driving experience.
"A drowsy driver hitting a culvert on Chitradurga - Ballary road killing 4 persons, is the most tragic one," the ADGP said in his post.
Several netizens commented on the post suggesting that the road accidents in Karnataka mainly occur due to excessive speeding and poorly designed roads.
They claimed that most highways do not have proper sign boards for directions. Many speed breakers do not have white colors or reflectors, they said.
However, along with a huge number of vehicles being added to the state roads each year, the overspeeding also remains a major reason behind the increase in accident numbers in the state.
In a separate incident, a car got sandwiched in a collision between two trucks on the BengaluruSalem National Highway, resulting in the tragic death of four individuals, including two women.
The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera.
