Gas delivery man held for 'spanking' woman

Bengaluru: The city police traced and nabbed a youth who had allegedly spanked a woman at a hotel in RPC Layout a few days ago, the police said on Wednesday.

The incident had taken place on December 30 and the act was recorded by the CCTV installed at the hotel.

During the interrogation, it was learnt that the accused was prompted to carry out the objectionable act by his friends over a bet.

The arrested youth was identified as Chandan, who worked as an LPG cylinder delivery boy for an agency in the city. He was a resident of Suddaguntepalya in Bengaluru.

The Vijayanagar Police had registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the victim and the cashier of the hotel.

The police collected the CCTV footage, which showed three individuals arriving at the hotel around 7:30 pm, and planning the indecent act. One of the accused spanks the young woman, while the other two closely watch and enjoy the act.

The victim was shocked and "strongly objected" to Chandan's act and confronted him.

As the customers started gathering in support of her, the accused were seen fleeing from the spot.

The police said that the accused claimed to have been challenged to spank a young woman at a hotel where he had visited along with his friends. The police during the investigation learned that the accused had formed a group that targeted young girls and women who visited hotels.

They allegedly made a habit of touching them inappropriately, with one of the accused performing the act while others watched.

In case of any trouble, the three would re-group and escape. Currently, the police are gathering information regarding the other two accused involved in the act.
