Juvenile son held for killing mother with an iron rod

Bengaluru: The KR Puram police were shocked when a 17-yearold youth walked into the police station and confessed to have killed his mother with an iron rod on Friday morning.
The police confirmed that the accused is a minor and was pursuing a diploma at a college in Mulbagal, Kolar district.
The deceased woman, Nethra, 40, was a homemaker and the family hailed from Mulbagal. The incident took place around 7:40 am allegedly after a heated argument between the mother and the son.
During the interrogation, the boy told the police that his mother, Nethra, had scolded him while he was about to leave the house for college.
He further stated that she was not taking good care of him nor did she provide proper food to him.
According to the boy's statements, he asked her to give him breakfast on Friday morning before leaving for college. However his mother allegedly refused and abused him.
An argument ensued between both of them and in a fit of rage, he picked up an iron rod and struck her on the head. The boy's father, Chandrappa, was not at home when the incident occured, the police confirmed.
As the woman collapsed with a severe injury on her head, the boy noticed that she was losing a lot of blood and allegedly was overcome with guilt.
He approached the jurisdictional police station and turned himself in. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, Dr Shivakumar, visited the spot following the incident for inspection.
He said that the boy has been taken into custody and a case has been registered regarding the incident.
