Suttur festival from Feb 6: CM to inaugurate mass marriage

Mysuru: The six day annual Suttur Jatra festival of Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji that features a variety of spiritual, educational, sports and cultural activities will be held from February 6 to 11 at Sur Kshetra Suttur in Nanjangud taluk.

The event which also reflects the culture and traditions of the region will be held with all festive and religious fervor at Srikshetra located on the banks of Kapila river.

A slew of events including cultural events will be held for all the six days during the jathra including exhibition, seminars, workshops on different fields including agriculture to mark the occasion.

The festival begins with the inauguration of exhibition on February 6 at 4 pm by state food and civil supplies minister K H Muniyappa, agriculture fair by state agricultural marketing minister Shivananda S Patil, health camp by health minister Dinesh Gundrao, cultural fair by minister for primary education Madhu S Bangarappa and boating by leader of opposition in state legislative council Kota Srinivas Pujari. Minister for Kannada and culture Shivaraj Tangadagi will preside.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the mass marriage ceremony on February 7 at 11 am in which ministers K J George, Dr H C Mahadevappa, SS Mallikarjun, Priyanka Kharge Mankala S Vaidya and others takes part.
