Bengaluru: After a spate of hoax bomb threat mails to private and government institutions in the city, the Kendriya Vidyalaya at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus in the city on Sunday morning detected a similar email prompting a thorough investigation by the police.

According to sources, the threat mail was received on January 30, but the issue came to light only on Sunday morning.

As soon as he was informed about it, the Principal of the Institution, Amritbala, approached Yeshwanthpur Police Station and filed a complaint.

The anti-sabotage and bomb detection squads were pressed into service and soon it was ascertained that the email was a hoax.

The situation's urgency led to a meticulous search for any potential explosive devices.

Speaking to News Trail, an official from the jurisdictional police station said that the email received from an ID named Sahukarisrinuvasarao@gmail.com, claimed that a bomb had been planted in the school and would go off at 10:20 am on that day.
