No liquor in city, three days from V’day
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In lieu of the By-elections of the teachers constituency in the Legislative council, Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban K A Dayananda has imposed a ban on sale of liquor for three days from February 14.
This also comes as a move to conduct free and fair elections and to maintain peace in the city.
February 14 is celebrated as Valentine's day. The Model Code of Conduct for teachers' election has already been enforced and will continue till Febr uary 23.
The ban will be lifted at 6 am on February 17. The ban is enforced in accordance with Rule 10 (b) of the Karnataka Excise Rules, 1967, and by exercising the powers prescribed by Section 135(c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
