Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, two men were found brutally murdered at a shop in Kumbarpet here on Wednesday night, the police told News Trail.

The incident took place around 8:20 pm when a person barged into a Kitchen utensil shop and attacked the two men with a knife, allegedly stabbing them to death.

Alerted by a few witnesses from the spot, the Halasuru Gate police reached the spot and carried out an inspection following which they detained a suspect.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Central, Shekhar H Tekkannavar, said that the deceased were identified as Suresh, 62, and Mahendra, 60, residents of Padmanabhanagar in the city.

"Prima facie it appears that the attacker was known to the victims and so far it is being suspected that the attack took place over a property dispute between them. We are probing the matter currently," he told News Trail.

One of the officials investigating the scene said that a few hours before the attack, Mahendra had come to see Suresh at his shop. It is learnt that both were longtime friends.

The police further said that the accused intended to attack Suresh, with whom he had a longstanding dispute.

However Mahendra, who intervened in a bid to stop the fight between the accused and Suresh, also got stabbed.

The body of Suresh was found lying near a chair while Mahendra died after he collapsed outside the shop, the police said.
