TBM ‘Bhadra’ reaches KG Halli, tunneling now 91 percent complete

Bengaluru: In another 'breakthrough,’ Tunnel Boring Machine ‘Bhadra’ has reached K G Halli, from Venkateshpura, spanning 1185 metres, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed on Thursday.
This means that 91 percent of work pertaining to the underground section of the Pink Line running from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara is complete.
The South Bound tunnel achieved a breakthrough in December last year. Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar was present at the site and inspected the work carried out.
The Pink Line which comes under phase two of the Namma Metro is 21.26 kilometres long. This line has the longest underground section at 13.76 kilometres.
19.08 kilometres tunneling out of 20.99 kilometres total is complete and by August this year, all the 9 tunnel boring machines are expected to complete the entire stretch.
The Pink Line is expected to be functional by 2025.
