Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah heaped praise on the second CM of erstwhile Mysore state Kengal Hanumanthaiah, calling his administration exemplary.

Hanumanthaiah’s birth anniversary is coming up on Wednesday (February 14) and the CM made the comments in relation to said occasion.

He also garlanded a portrait of Hanumanthaiah in the premises of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Saturday.

“His administration is an example to us all. On the east wall of the Vidhana Soudha, it is written that the government's work is God's work. It means serving people is like serving God,” Siddaramaiah said.

Hanumanthaiah, considered an icon of Karnataka, reigned as the CM of the state from March 1952 to August 1956.

It is to be noted that Karnataka in its current form came into existence with the reorganization of states Act 1956 implemented on November 1 of that year.
