Truck driver arrested for footballer's death
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Investigating a recent hitand-run case which led to the death of a 24-year-old State-level footballer, the city traffic police (BTP) tracked down the absconding truck driver allegedly involved in the accident.
Monish K, a resident of Babusapalya in Bengaluru, lost his life in a road accident near KR Puram after a truck allegedly rammed into his bike around 2:30 am on January 21, this year.
According to the police, following the accident, Monish was rushed to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to the injuries on the way.
The truck driver had fled the spot leaving a severely injured Monish behind. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had also mourned Monish's death and issued directions to track down the accused at the earliest.
Intensifying the probe, the KR Puram Traffic Police tracked down the driver, identified as Manjunath, 29, and arrested him.
According to sources from police, the BTP checked over a 100 CCTV cameras to identify and track the accused in the case.
