Bengaluru: In a separate operation, the CCB Economic Crime Squad carried out a raid on the illegal refilling unit of LPG gas cylinders in Soladevanahalli Police Station limits in the city.
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the action was taken by the officials after obtaining inputs from credible sources regarding the illegal activities here.
During this operation, the personnel seized 110 gas cylinders valued at Rs 8 lakh following which a person was arrested in connection with the case.
Authorities discovered that a few individuals were illegally refilling the cylinders using unauthorized methods and without proper permission, posing a significant risk to public safety, especially in densely populated areas.
The illegal refilling of gas cylinders using iron rods and unauthorised labels from companies raises serious concerns about safety standards and regulatory compliance in the industry.
Among the seized cylinders, 31 were regular LPG cylinders of 19kgs capacity while 79 others were small cylinders of 14.2 kg capacity, the police said.
