29 million rose stems shipped, 108% increase

Bengaluru: The beautiful scent of roses has taken over the premises of the Kempegowda International Airport on Valentine’s day, as 29 million rose stems, weighing over 12,22,860 kilograms were shipped on Wednesday, the Airport Authority confirmed.

This also marks a 108 percent increase in the tonnage processed from last year’s numbers of 15.4 million stems.

The airport saw a big leap in both international and domestic exports, with 9 million stems bound for international destinations, 14 percent better than last year and 20 million stems shipped within the country, 148 percent greater than last year's numbers.
