Bengaluru: In a significant move towards enhancing employee welfare, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has announced a comprehensive insurance package for its workforce, aiming to provide substantial financial security to their dependents.
This initiative reflects the corporation's commitment to the well-being of its employees and their families.
The existing departmental group insurance compensation of Rs.3.00 lakhs, implemented since 2008, has been a crucial support for the dependent families of deceased staff.
However, recognising the need for a more robust scheme, BMTC has taken unprecedented steps to amplify the coverage.
An agreement with Canara Bank in 2022 paved the way for an Rs.30.00 lakh insurance compensation for the families of employees who lost their lives in road accidents, holding salary accounts with the bank.
Expanding on this initiative, BMTC has recently inked agreements with three prominent banks to increase insurance compensation in case of employee deaths due to accidents.
