Bengaluru: A fight between three women over a trivial reason led to one of them, who was pregnant, losing her child here. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Govindaraja Nagar police a few days ago.
Jaya Sheela, 32, a security guard at a Namma Metro station in Bengaluru, suffered a miscarriage allegedly after she was kicked on her stomach by her neighbour.
It was revealed that Jay Sheela’s husband Sagar used to run a two-wheeler garage next to a hotel run by Shankar and his wife Padmamma in Govindaraja Nagar.
On February 11, a quarrel broke out between the couple following which Shankar lodged a complaint against Sagar. After the police intervention, the altercation came to a compromise at the police station.
However, a couple of hours later, Padmamma and her daughter-in-law Kavya accosted Jaya Sheela and her husband when they were walking along the road near Sangamithra Women’s College in Subbanna Garden and allegedly pulled Jaya Sheela by the hair and punched her in the stomach despite knowing that she was pregnant.
Jaya Sheela developed abdominal pain and was rushed to a hospital immediately. However, three days later, she developed intense pain and the doctors delivered the baby which had died in her womb.
Following this, Jaya Sheela registered a case against Kavya and Padmamma based on which the police registered an FIR in the matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru West, S Girish S said that the neighbours fought over a trivial issue and the pregnant woman was apparently kicked in the abdomen.
“A week later, the pregnant woman delivered, but suffered a miscarriage. We are awaiting the postmortem report. "We have registered an FIR and taken up further investigation,” he said.
