Bengaluru: Depressed of harassment from her exboyfriend, a 19-yearold girl allegedly committed suicide at her aunt’s house in Nanjapura village under Jigani Police Station limits of Bengaluru.

The incident had taken place two days ago but came to light only after the parents of the girl decided to file a complaint with the police.

It was revealed that the deceased girl, Chandrakala, was in love with a boy identified as Arun, who resided in her neighbourhood in Gottigere.

The girl had completed her Pre-University College studies. Chandrakala’s parents have alleged that Arun had harassed her due to which she committed suicide.

As per the complaint, the accused had promised to marry Chandrakala but later retracted. Chandrakala had sent her mother to talk to Arun’s family, but they allegedly refused her to accept the marriage proposal.

Convinced by her parents, the girl got engaged to another man recently. However the accused started harassing her and allegedly threatened to kill her if she marries any other person.

It was also alleged that the accused had called up Chandrakala’s fiancé and threatened to kill him.

The girl had been to her maternal aunt’s house in Nanjapura village where she allegedly hanged herself to death.

The police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) in the matter and based on the allegations, an inquiry has been initiated against the family of the accused.
