Toyota, K'taka govt tie-up for tech colleges

Bengaluru: The Department of Technical Education Karnataka has taken a significant step towards enhancing the skill development of engineering and polytechnic students by partnering with Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd.

The collaboration, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), paves the way for the establishment of the Toyota Center of Excellence in Government Engineering Colleges across Karnataka.

Dr M C Sudhakar, the Higher Education Minister, expressed that this initiative is designed to meet the evolving training needs of students in the state, with the inaugural centre set to be installed at Government Engineering College Ramanagara.

Sudeep S Dalvi, Toyota's Senior Vice President and Director, unveiled ambitious plans for the future, targeting a capacity of 45,300 units and the creation of 4,000 jobs by 2026.

Dalvi highlighted Toyota's shift towards green technology and renewable energy.

The establishment of the Center of Excellence aligns with Toyota's goal to mpart knowledge and foster a carbon-neutral approach within its operations.
