Ramanagara: Taking a dig at his family’s political rivals, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar alleged that JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy and former foe CP Yogeshwar had joined hands to beat his brother and Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh, adding that it won’t bear fruit.

He was referring to the fact that BJP leader CP Yogeshwar, a five time MLA from Channapatna in Ramanagara district, had lost to Kumaraswamy in 2018 and 2023.

Moreover, Yogeshwar is said to have played a key role in the Operation Kamala of 2019, which toppled the coalition government that Kumaraswamy headed.

The Deputy CM made the comments at a programme organised for Gruha Lakshmi scheme beneficiaries held in Bidadi town of Ramanagara district on Sunday.

Bidadi falls under Bengaluru Rural constituency.

“The BJP and JD(S) have joined hands to defeat MP DK Suresh. The same Kumaraswamy and Yogeshwar, who were fighting it out till recently, are now embracing each other. The people will teach them a lesson. In spite of the BJPJD(S) alliance, you have all seen what happened in the (Bengaluru) Teachers’ Constituency election. We have done a survey in the constituency and even the JD(S) voters are saying they are going to vote for DK Suresh this time,” Shivakumar said.

“A lot of developmental works are happening in Ramanagara district with the help of all Congress leaders. All the people of Ramanagara are Bangaloreans but a separate district has been created only for administrative convenience. We are preparing to get Metro to Bidadi and we have converted Bidadi planning authority into Greater Bengaluru Planning Authority. We are committed to the development of Bidadi. I call upon the people to support DK Suresh in the upcoming elections,” he added.
