The information front: Battling Covid-19 with awareness

Dr Satyanarayana Mysore is the Head of Department and Consultant of Pulmonology and Lung Transplant at Manipal Hospitals, HAL Airport Road, Bengaluru. As hospitals turned into warfronts against Covid-19, the people were left confused and scared as they had no real idea what was happening in hospitals. Dr Satyanarayana Mysore began sharing information online, telling the public about Covid-19, hospital protocol, infections in the lungs and walking them through the nuances of the treatment procedures. His gesture proved of great benefit to both the public and the state government of Karnataka.

Over the last year alone, the doctor has treated and cared for more than 8,000 Covid-19 patients. Dr Mysore told News Trail that more than 2000 patients were remote calls and is “privileged to be part of the patients’ journeys. I was interacting with the media as well, to provide credible information about Covid -19 and I was part of the hospital protocol for Covid-19 in the state.”

Dr Mysore worked with the state government to provide remote, pro bono care to patients in government hospitals. He also worked with the government in critical care support and with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to formulate treatment guidelines.
