Shivarajkumar bats for wife Geetha getting ticket

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Kannada actor Shivarajkumar on Saturday raised eyebrows when he suggested his wife’s Geetha’s name for a Congress ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He told mediapersons that if Geetha got elected as an MP, it would inspire other women.

“Geetha comes from the family (of former chief minister S Bangarappa). As her husband, I would like to see her become an MP or MLA. If my wife wins, it’ll be a motivation for other women,” Shivarajkumar said.

Geetha is a Congress office bearer. Back in December last year, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had thrown up a surprise when he asked Shiva Rajkumar to contest next year’s Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket.

However, he had replied that he wasn’t interested in politics. Shivarajkumar is the son of the late Kannada film industry icon Raj Kumar, who hailed rom the Ediga community.
