Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday lambasted the BJP for allegedly tarnishing the image of Karnataka for political gains.

He was speaking about the BJP Karnataka Twitter handle claiming that it was ‘Bomb Bengaluru’ and not ‘Brand Bengaluru’.

“BJP leaders don't have basic sense. No one in a responsible position will talk like that,” Shivakumar said.

Brand Bengaluru refers to the State government’s eight point vision for the state capital, which includes easy mobility, cleanliness, green cover, health, education, technological prowess, ‘vibrancy’ and beautification and addressing of water security.

“The police have been given a free hand to investigate the blast case and they are investigating it. The government has taken a serious note of it and we will do whatever it takes to protect the reputation of Bengaluru. The police are looking into all possible angles. The police will do whatever it takes to find out the perpetrators,” he added.

Shivakumar claimed that the BJP was trying to make political gains out of a security issue. “The BJP is exploiting the opportunity to gain political mileage.
