Complaint filed against BBMP chief engineer over 'bribe'

Bengaluru: A city based activist has filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Karnataka Lokayukta against the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Engineer, BS Prahlad, alleging that he had received money from a contractor to his wife’s bank account in return for clearing a bill.

In the complaint, the activist alleged that a contractor had transferred Rs 70 lakh to the bank account belonging to the wife of the Chief Engineer in 2023 after which he had cleared the pending bills of around 3.5 crore to the contractor’s company.

The matter is under preliminary investigation by both the ED and the Lokayukta police.
