Chamarajanagara: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dubbed late Congressman R Dhruvanarayana a model leader and mourned his death as a loss to the state.

Dhruvanarayana had been a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president before died of cardiac arrest on March 11 last year in a hospital in Mysuru.

A memorial service was conducted in his native Heggavadi village of Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajpet district.

The CM made the comments during his visit to Heggavadi, which was a part of his official trip to Chamarajanagara district. He paid floral tributes and addressed the gathering.

“A Congress ideologue and an asset to the Congress party, Dhruvanarayan rose from his student Congress days to become the party's working president. He worked continuously for the development of the constituency as MLA and MP. Therefore, his passing away is an irreparable loss not only to the Congress party but also to the state,” Siddaramaiah said.
